Why European ingredients matter?
The Cosmetics industry is one of the most exciting places to be in, in our slightly biased opinion 😍. It is constantly revealing new, exciting trends and key research into ingredients that can enhance the user's experience.
So looking into the future in late 2021 / 2022 the team at Gellifique® has determined 2 factors which are going to impact the nail industry in the near future.
- the rising cases of intolerance to nail products, and
- changes within UK insurance policies regarding product origin 1
As a result we made it our priority to make a number of adjustments to our production and formulation policies.
We wanted to ensure that all Gellifique® customers were adequately covered by their insurance policies in line with these changes.
Enhanced Formula
Although our products have always been formulated to avoid skin irritation, due to the rising numbers of NTs developing overexposure to a wide range of chemicals found in nail products we worked with European Cosmetic Chemists to enhance our existing product range.
Besides the additional product functionality benefits, we hope the enhanced formula will allow those nail technitians and their clients suffering with dermal allergies to use a UV/LED curable gel system again 2.
Simply replacing one unpopular ingredient with another ingredient that can have a similar irritating effect is not a route we wanted to take.
Introduction of the Pro Care Range is the first step in offering products for structured manicures that customers with existing intolerances to acrylates may be able to use 1.
European Raw Materials
One of the biggest projects that was also completed in 2022 was the Gellifique® independent, cosmetic testing model.
The importance of our cosmetic testing is so significant that even the OOPS (Office for Product Safety and Standards) was keen to learn more about our model and findings.
Equipped with testing data we have tested many products available in the UK marketplace to find numerous impurities in products.
As a result we have concluded that in order to minimise chances of impurities in raw materials ( pigments, oligomers etc) all raw materials for Gellifique® production are to be sources from certified, European distributors only.
This means that although you may not see TikTok and Instagram trending UV/LED gel products at Gellifique® you can rest assured that our product line uses the highest purity ingredients, all made in Western Europe.
